Great Little Heater for this Style & Price Level, April 17, 2014

Here’s what you have to consider . . . When you’re buying a an economy car you can’t compare it to a luxury car – when you’re buying a Timex you can’t compare it to a Rolex. Thus when you’re paying for a ceramic heater it’s not fair to compare it to a higher-end ceramic heater that costs four times as much as this one. That being said, let’s be fair and rate this heater in its class, i.e., “Least Expensive Economy Level Ceramic Heater”.

In this class, the 1500W Comfort Zone is a great little heater. Although these are marketed as personal heaters according to the selection guide on the box, I use one to “take the chill off” in an uninsulated 12×14 three seasons room with vaulted ceilings. When I want to use the room on chilly days I run this heater continuously in this uninsulated room consisting primarily of floor to ceiling single pane windows.

I fully realize I am asking this tiny little personal heater to do a Herculean task, but it actually does a great job. Does it have a digital display like the luxury models? No. Does it have a sleek space age cabinet? No. Does it come in designer colors? No. Does it have super cool graphics? No. Will it last several years? Probably just a few years. Will its output diminish over time? Probably. Did I know all this when I chose to pay ONLY for an economy class heater? ABSOLUTELY !!!!!

The output of this 1500W heater when new is close to anything out there. The fan may (not sure) be a tiny bit less CFM than “luxury grade” ceramic heaters. I think it’s quiet, but I’m not using it in a quiet bedroom. I am amazed at the safety / tilt shut-off mechanism on the one I got. It shuts off faster than any “luxury grade” heater I’ve ever owned. The very, very slightest touch shuts this thing off. This amazed me because I own two high-end ceramic heaters and can actually slide them across the floor to reposition them without them shutting off. This little rascal shuts off if you even think about touching it – LOL !!! Seriously, the very, very slightest touch or tiniest tilt, and the safety shut-off kicks in. This makes me wonder if some of the issues with people saying the heater shuts off all the time may be due to the user placing the heater on a slightly less than level surface.

Ok, I’ve said about everything anyone would want to know about an economy grade heater. I would definitely buy another one for the same application. Great little economy level heater. It’s warranted for one year so if it dies – go get your back and buy another one !!! Just keep in mind when reading all online reviews – you cannot pay for a heater and expect the exact performance, reliability, and dependability, as the higher-end models. Yet, I tend to think mine is currently operating at or close to the same level as my other two higher-end heaters.

I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT for those who have a room or two they want to heat warmer than their other spaces, November 24, 2014

COMFORT ZONE
CERAMIC HEATER
SMALL ROOM
MULTIPURPOSE CERAMIC HEATER

I PURCHASED THIS AT THE BIG BOX STORE ON SALE DURING LAST SPRING FOR ABOUT HALF PRICE. I HAD LOOKED IT UP ON AMAZON TO GET THE REVIEWS AND PRICE. HERE’S WHAT I DID:

1ST SINCE I WAS PLACING IT IN MY BEDROOM WHICH IS Carpeted I PURCHASED A ceramic cutting board to go underneath the heater to provide insulation against fire.
After I got it set up I tested the tip over safety switch by deliberately knocking it over to see if it would shut off. It did, but you have to set it upright let it cool off and unplug it to go through a reboot routine, before it will work again. If you do this mine worked like a charm!
Mine has an automatic thermostat that lets you adjust the temperature to what you would like and just forget it. It comes on and turns off automatically. Mine does not have a temperature setting just warm to aliitle warmer to even WARMER to really warm. You’ll have to see what works best for you and go with that. I live on the first floor of a senior living facility so the upstairs apartments get my heat in the winter. Heat rises. I get their air conditioning in the summer. So it balances out.
I really like this product, but since I have only been using it for a month or so I don’t love it yet. Plus Metro Atlanta and North Georgia doesn’t get all that cold until typically mid February I don’t know how it will react to the really cold (for us) weather. I use it in my bedroom with the door pulled to. My bedroom is approximately 200 ft.2
By roughly 10 feet high would make it 2,000 cubic feet.

I wonder if all the poorly rated reviews were due to reviewers not understanding the safety features built in.

When I have had this for a few more months I’ll come back to see if I need to add an addendum.

I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT for those who have a room or two they want to heat warmer than their other spaces.

Heats well, but design is flawed, January 7, 2014

This little heater throws out an excellent amount of heat, however…

The thermostat is directly above the heating element, as we all know from science class, heat rises, so even with the thermostat all the way up, the unit will still cut off with the room cold.

I have worked around this problem by placing my heater in front of a box fan running on low, this also helps circulate the air in the room.
