A cold laid me low; I was sneezing, wheezing, miserable. My son bought this from COSTCO, plugged it in, switched on the UV option and almost instant relief. This handles a 20 x 15 ft bedroom well, and has been cooling as well as clearing the air. It is easily moved by a convenient on-the-top handle. Three options for the fan strength (high, middle, low); UV on or off; lights out option for night. About 2 1/2 ft tall, 8 inches diameter column, not obtrusive at all.

With regard to noise, my house is carpeted, and this is positioned about 3 ft from my bed. It is quieter than my overhead fan on low and medium levels; about the same at high levels. Since the hum is steady, for me it is soothing. As an unexpected bonus, this cleans the air so thoroughly that this room is now totally dust-free. I expected pathogens would pack their bags and leave—I am sure happy about the absence of dust. Effectiveness might vary depending on atmospheric dustiness and allergens as well as individual needs. For me, it has been handling volcanic vog which is pretty wicked stuff to breathe.

Any alerts? Buyers should be aware this unit needs to be about 2 to 3 feet from walls for good intake airflow. Also, it probably would be better to put it on wood or tile than on carpet, although the carpet may help keep the fan hum so quiet. The color is black with a silver top, which fits my bedroom, Some buyers may want white or a more colorful case but I don’t know if this is available. Cleaning has been easy by following the clear directions step by step. No special skills needed, as far as I can tell.

Overall: I am totally pleased and happy to report since it arrived about six months ago, no sneezes at all! An excellent value and worth every penny of the price, for me.

After getting sucked into a metal grid Ionic purifier. ERR! Figuring it would be easy to just wipe clean. Loved a past brand that was that way and was hoping to replace my old units. What a joke those things really are now!!! It broke about a week after return frame, and wasn’t warranted. I could have got 2 of these for the price of that piece of junk. I researched a lot of air hepa type purifiers and was really confused on which brand/model to purchase. Allergies were driving me totally insane! So…Asking around to everyone and their mother on purifiers! A friend with COPD told me that they got this model and were totally relieved while sleeping. So I decided to purchase this unit and put it in my bedroom. (It’s been about 2 months now)

It had me sleeping totally better within a week 🙂 The noise level doesn’t bother me, when it comes to getting good sleep. The Night mode keeps the lights off, and the inner blue light is not disruptive to me. On low it’s peaceful for sleep, med is tolerable and high is good for drowning out other background/outside annoying noises. Like dog barking and traffic ect. I usually use a fan on high during the summer to drown out outside noise. So the complaints on sound don’t bother me much at all.

The filter is really easy to vac or blow out. I bought an electric air blower and I prefer to take the unit outside and on low, gently blow it out. I feel it gets it cleaner then just using a vacuum attachment. After you clean the unit remember to press Time and On/Off at the same time (3 seconds). To get the clean filter red light to turn off. It drove me insane, until I found in the instructions how to shut it off. (not sure if using an air blower is safe, but it sure works awesome on that filter) I figure if it blows my computer out, it should be otay! Just air no chemical can stuff!

The second unit is in a family room and keeping it nice and sneeze free! Very Happy with my purchase and when they go back down in price. Will purchase another for another room! A friend of mine has another hepa brand. Has all the same features and she has had issues issues with it. She loves my Therapure and bought one for her room. Def a fan on this brand and model. Hoping that they last for at least a year each!

I’ve owned 2 air purifiers and one "ionic breeze" – none of which were worth their high cost. Purchased the Therapure 540 to replace a Holmes that sounded like a helicopter taking off, and was impressed enough to take the time to write a review. The fan on "high" setting is a touch loud (eh… minus a star for that), but the volume is not nearly as bad as other brands I’ve purchased. Pretty quick and easy to clean, and light enough to move from room to room if you only purchase one. I, myself, am impressed enough to purchase a second unit for my home office. I have pretty severe allergies, and having this in the bedroom and office really gets rid of the itchy throat, runny nose and itchy eyes. I can tell the difference in the air just moving from a "filtered" room to an "unfiltered" room. Seems to be most effective when filtering a room with the door closed, thereby filtering and circulating air within a smaller area. When I attempt to use it in my 600 sq ft living room, it struggles to filter the air enough to keep the allergies at bay. Perfect for bedroom, home office. Highly recommend.
