Clearly, there are much better webcams out there otherwise. In the sub- market, this camera is a worthwhile purchase for a few reasons. First, it works on all major platforms, which means you won't need special drivers - I used in on my Windows PC at work, on my Mac at home, and, ultimately, on the Raspberry Pi for which I'd purchased it. Second, video quality is decent. It's not fantastic by any means, but it's likely as good as any other camera in this price range (aside from, say, the PlayStation Eye, which has extraordinary video quality but which won't work out of the box on some systems -for example, Macs). Third, this clips (well, attaches - look at the images) nicely to the top of your monitor, unlike many other cheaper webcams. Forth, this is really durable. Drop it, bump it, whatever, and it should end up unscathed. Again, if you're looking for theater-quality video from a webcam, avoid this. Period. Cam Sync HD 720P Webcam (Personal Computers) i just bought the webcam today on 11-12-13 at fry's. i read the good reviews and i read the bad reviews. with that i took a chance that the good reviews were right. they were not. when i plugged the webcam in, my first reaction was, why is it so dark. after playing with it for a few minutes, i switch to the logitech c260 which i was also testing (at work). the difference was day and night. the creative labs webcam being night. so i plugged the creative back in and tried enlarging the view window. my reaction then was, where did all those pixels come from (highly pixelated). it was then that i decided to pack it up, rush back to fry's, and got my money back. so here's my recommendation, for about on amazon, get the microsoft lifecam 6000. i have a lifecam at home and i'm getting another one for a different computer, it works really well with my pc. the creative labs webcam was on sale and i wanted to test it out. with regards to the logitech c260, if you want to pay around on amazon, it's a good webcam 0 |
