I eventually drilled a hole in the end of the bar to drive a screw through it directly into the stud to hold the bar to the wall. Obviously not very good! When we recently remodelled the bathroom, I wanted a recessed toilet paper holder and bought this one from Franklin Brass: Recessed Toilet Paper Holder in Satin Nickel (which worked out great and is also a good product). So I bought this towel bar to match. The towel bar fits well on the wall, its attractive and is very secure.
