I purchased this on an Amazon lightning deal for and some cents. I have always wanted a Himalayan salt lamp. There are a few things that I was not sure about and neither the product description nor the other reviews really told me. So here they are for you incase you are interested in buying it.

1. The lamp is actually about 7 inches in height.
2. Unlike others, I did not have to unscrew anything. The bulb came packed in a little white box. All I had to do was insert the metal plates that came attached to the base of the electrical plug into the salt lamp itself.
3. The lamp fits into any two prong outlet
4. It specifically says 110 Volts and 15 Watts so don't plan to take this to Europe :). The lamp is tiny, about 2 inches long.
5. The lamp is way too bright for any bedroom, but I use it in my living room after the kids are asleep to do some work in soothing orange light and I like it a lot.
6. It is irregularly shaped not exactly cone shaped like the product picture shown (I'll try to upload a picture).
7. It has a little on of switch on the cord itself.
8. There is no dimmer so it stays on at a constant level of brightness.
9. It has no odor when turned on.
10. It does not melt. But when the box arrived I found these little salt flakes all over my package.

Overall, I am very glad I purchased this! You will be too if you are enamored by the whole Eastern Himalayan lamp thing! This makes a nice gift too!

I received this Himalayan Rock Salt lamp today, it did not include any instructions on setting up or how to care for the salt rock. Installing the bulb and cord into the base was easy though. Care and maintenance of the lamp I found by doing a google search.

This lamp has a nice on/off switch on the cord. The wood base on mine was a bit dinged up but unless you really look you can't see it. There were large holes in the box when I received it and the salt rock was pretty scuffed up. I took a barely damp rag and wiped it down a bit, it made it look a little better. There also looks to be a large crack going through the salt rock itself,... I don't know if it is broken or part of the salt rocks character, it doesn't seem to make a difference since it's still in one piece so no big deal. But I do feel for the price I paid that this should have been protected with air pillows, bubble wrap, or even crumpled up paper before shipping.

I love the colors on the one I received. A very vibrant red and orange-ish gold. When turned on it looks like a flame or a blob of glowing lava. My lamp is very bright. I don't think I could use it in the bedroom since it is so bright, there is no soft glow about my lamp. Mine is more like something-in-the-house-is-on-fire type bright...and that is in the daytime. I read where someone said that they have one of these in all of their rooms. Really? If their lamps are as bright as mine then walking through their house at night would be like walking through the pits of hell, or a volcano... made me laugh. 😀

I have no idea if any of the stated benefits are true, I bought it because it looked different and unusual, and sometimes I just buy things because it seems like a good idea at the time. If anything good happens because of this lamp I will be sure to update my review.

It's not the same color, much darker and barely lights up through the thickness of the lamp. The worst part is ITS MELTING.
