Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
We got this AC unit to cool a small bedroom approximately 210 square feet in size. Although early in the year (May) we have already had outside temps at our home at 90. This unit has done a great job of cooling the room (we set it at 75) and is not routinely working at max capacity yet. What has amazed me the most about this unit is how quiet it is. I have owned several window AC units over the decades and never had one as quiet as this one. I like it. I also like it has a clean air ionizer that removes pollen and impurities from the air providing relief for allergy sufferers, as I am allergic to some pollens. It has low, medium and high fan settings, plus an auto setting. The remote control has been easy to use also. Very satisfied so far. Of course the "acid test" will come later this summer when our temps hit 100. If anything negative comes up I will come back and update this review. As for the initial installation of it I had no problems at all. EER is 11.2

they need to build it better, June 22, 2014
This review is from: Frigidaire Energy Star 6,000 BTU 115V Window-Mounted Mini-Compact Air Conditioner w/ Full-Function Remote Control, FFRE0633Q1 (Misc.)
i bought this at walmart, the price is about the same, but i felt if i had to return it, i could do so easily.

anyway, as i was installing the mounts for the extensions i saw something rattling around inside, it was a blob of putty. looked like something they would use to mount something with or to test something. being afraid it would get caught in the fan i had to remove it. it took a long time to get the cover just apart enough (never did get it off), to remove this thing. the putty was like glazing compound about the size of a billiard ball. that's why i dinged it a star - if they missed a huge ball like that, what else did they miss? this stuff was hardly functional, it was far to soft and well, moving on its own.

it was a bit confusing getting the hardware mounted right.

construction wise, this is where it fails me, dividing inside to outside is a thin piece of styrofoam. anything can pierce it. no metal, plastic, just foam so thin you can see daylight through it.

it's a good size, it fit in the window better than the other one.

huge con - when you turn it on, it defaults to economy, and what this does is - it turns the unit on and off totally when the room is about the right temp. problem is, the room is about 5 deg warmer than what it says its set to. and it doesn't stir the air. set it to cool and it's fine. it remembers the other settings like the temp set.

i wish it had a night mode to turn off the bright display, it does light the room.

it cools a small room pretty fast, and the directional things actually do work pretty well. noise wise it's pretty quiet, but its just another noise in the room and will irritate just like anything else. it tends to splash more. the hardware allows the AC to tilt for you, so you don't have to adjust this when installing.

oh and something important to note: the plug end is huge, it's about the size of a small computer mouse, it has reset buttons. but i installed this over a computer table and had to drill a 2-1/2" hole to get the plug to pass through. and because its so huge, its having a hard time fitting on the outlet due to the location.

Terrific Lilttle Work Horse, June 24, 2014
This review is from: Frigidaire Energy Star 6,000 BTU 115V Window-Mounted Mini-Compact Air Conditioner w/ Full-Function Remote Control, FFRE0633Q1 (Misc.)
I've had this AC unit for about a week now and it works and cools the living room quickly. I like that it defaults to Energy Saver mode which helps save on electricity - I only run the unit in Energy Saver mode. It has a handy remote complete with batteries. I had someone install the unit for me and it installed without a hitch - I do not think the plug is "huge" just a little bigger than what you would find on a small appliance - it is of course an air conditioner it should have a heavy duty plug with safety features. Noise level isn't too bad, I've heard louder (like my old one) and I've heard quieter ones - it is fine. I wonder if any AC window unit is truly quiet. The extensions on the sides were too narrow and didn't fit in the window, but with a little creative thinking and using the foam supplied with the AC unit the side extensions now are a tight fit.
Light leaking in through the air flow vents - I do agree and it might prove annoying to some people who are using this unit in a bedroom, but I don't think stars should be knocked off because of "personal" preferences. That is like saying something is a bad product because it doesn't come in red. Some light should be expected - nothing, I think, has the quality of the older AC units which were heavy and energy monsters. Nothing is made to last anymore, everything is plastic.
I feel it is a good product for the money and if it lasts half as long as my old Hampton Bay AC unit (6-7 yrs) it is well worth the price, only time will tell. This was purchased at Best Buy.
