I was looking all over for something like these light cord replacements. I went to Menards, Ace, Home Depot but I could not find anything even similar to this to act as a replacement to the old cords for my outdoor holiday light decorations (such as the plastic Mary & Joseph, Santa, Snowman, etc..). Its crazy that these stores would sell replacement bulbs but not the cords, especially in the holiday section. I wondered If these were the right size to fit in the holes in the decorations, and turns out they are perfect. At this price I bought a bunch so I can replace all the old cords and they arrived so fast that now I can put up all the decorations before the bad weather gets here.

This thin gauge cord says that it can only handle 5 watts. The web description should say this. I wanted to use it for a salt lamp, which uses up to 25 watts to work properly. Fail. This would work for a Dept 56 house- that’s about it.

I bought three of these cord sets, one for a nativity scene, and the other two to install in some small lamps my kids made.

They consist of a 5Watt C7 bulb and a bulb housing ("socket") with a spring steel clamp that will secure the housing nicely in a 1" diameter hole in the back or bottom of your project. The spring clamp will nicely snap in to a hole through 1/8" masonite or plywood. The clamp will wedge into thicker stock up to about 3/4". If you need to put it though a thicker base, such as a slab of 2×4, you’ll need to drill a countersink.

The lamp cord is 2 meters (just over 6ft) long. The rotary switch assembly is located about 1/2 way between the lamp holder and the plug. The plug assembly is equipped with a replaceable 5 amp fuse.

I replaced one of the supplied bulbs with a 3 watt LED that puts out light equivalent to a 25 watt bulb. It is very bright indeed.

Other reviewers here have expressed concern about the lead warning attached to the line cord. Please be aware that this applies to the lightbulb itself, which, like nearly all incandescent bulbs, has a blob of solder, (a tin, copper, and silver alloy that may also contain lead) on the hot terminal. There is no lead danger unless you allow your kids to put light bulbs in their mouths.

These cord sets are ideal for craft projects that require a small light bulb at the end of a 6 foot cord.
