This monitor works with their SteamWasher and SteamDryer among others. It conveniently shows the remaining time for the wash/dry cycle. Installation is a breeze: remove two screws for each unit, plug in MODEM(s), re-install screws, turn on units and sync the monitor. The only tricky part is gaining access to the back for installation. The monitor comes complete with two MODEMs, wall-mount plate and table stand, and laundry monitor. Nothing else is needed. It even includes the wall-mount plate screws. The display is well illuminated. The washer cycle is in blue while the dryer cycle is in red. The remaining time is in large green digits, easily readable across a 15 foot room. The case has a simple but nice look. If there’s anything to complain about, it’s the power cord coming out the bottom center of the unit. Then again, there’s probably no place to otherwise conceal it. The retail price is a little high. The monitor automatically turns on when it detects a wash or dry cycle, and it turns off when complete. I plugged it in on the opposite end of the house and had no problems. We also have a home automation (X-10) system and there is no conflict with it. All-in-all, it’s a nice addition to the laundry set. It may not be essential but is very worthwhile especially if the laundry is far from other activity centers. 0 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Disappointing, By Greg K. “grku” (Jamaica Plain, MA United States) – See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What’s this?) This review is from: LG Electronics RLM20K Remote Laundry Monitoring System (Electronics) I live in a multi-level dwelling and the dryer is the weak link in the chain: you can’t switch loads until the dryer is empty. My LGs run so quietly that it’s sometimes tough to determine if the dryer is ready for a change! This seemed like the right answer: install the network item on the back, go through the setup, and you get to monitor how much time is left in the cycle. Well, that is when it works. I have pretty modern wiring and not a lot of distance between the dryer and the kitchen counter upstairs. While the remote monitor can get a signal, it does a crappy job of keeping in touch. You’ll see that there’s 43 minutes left for 43 minutes. You can unplug the unit and plug it back in again to reacquire the signal and get new data, but it generally doesn’t keep up. I’ve moved the unit around the house and found that if it goes too far, you won’t even get the signal! It’s not like I’m using home power networking or have it plugged into some kind of line conditioner or surge protector. Yes, then, I’m able to use it, but it’s not really all that great. 0 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful not the perfect solution, By the rockstacker (beautiful western NC) – See all my reviews This review is from: LG Electronics RLM20K Remote Laundry Monitoring System (Electronics) We have the LG Steam washer/dryers, love them! We were also moving into a new home with the laundry room across the house from the living area and thought this would help monitor the status as we couldn’t here the alarms. Once in we discovered that the washer would connect to the remote but not the dryer. Research has determined that there is a two-phase electrical issue that can’t be corrected without an expensive phase coupler. Don’t try to call LG for answers…their hopeless with anything more than simple questions. I would recommend this item but you won’t know if it will work until you try it! 0 |
