This deluxe digital dehydrator includes six drying trays, expandable to 12 trays for added drying capacity. The drying trays nest when not in use for over a 40% reduction in storage space. Includes starter packs of jerky spice and cure. Also included are two Fruit Roll Sheets for making healthy fruit rolls and strips from fresh, frozen, or canned fruit and two Nonstick Mesh Screens for drying small and sticky foods. The digital timer and thermostat provide precise drying times and temperatures that range from 90 degrees to 165 degrees F. I dropped it when my dog tripped me. The model that I had isn't even made anymore so I started shopping for a new one. I use my dehydrator very often for a lot of different things. I know from experience exactly what temp I want and exactly how long to dehydrate things. The thing I loved most about my old Nesco dehydrator was the digital temp and timer and that is one thing I would not forgo in a new one. They are a bit more money but they are much more accurate. Most of the ones for sale these days don't even have a timer and the temp control is just a cheap dial. My new Presto 06301 arrived on time and in perfect condition. I have already used it a couple times and I love it. You can spend a lot more for a dehydrator but probably not get much more in functionality and overall value. It is easy to use and easy to clean. It has a small footprint and will not take up much precious horizontal kitchen surfaces (counter-top area). Controls are user-friendly and not many competitors in this price-range have a digital display/timer. I wont say its whisper quiet but the fan isn't really loud either. I also like how the trays nest when you are not using it. As for performance it does exactly what it is supposed to do. Dried apple slices are delicious and healthy for you so, if you are considering a dehydrator do not be afraid to try the Prestro Dehydro. This review is from: Presto 06301 Dehydro Digital Electric Food Dehydrator (Kitchen) We have 2 dogs that are crazy about dried chicken (overdone chicken jerky). We used to buy it at the store in the big bags until about a year ago when they recalled all of it because it was coming from China and had bad things in it that was killing dogs. It was also not cheap - about for a one pound bag. Well I didn't want to deprive my dogs of their favorite treat, so I decided that I would start making my own. I shopped everywhere for a dehydrator and read tons of reviews. After weighing all the options and looking at what features you can get at what price ranges, I decided on this one. I am really glad I did. To have the adjustable temperature AND timer is wonderful. After a couple of batches of dried chicken I have figured out the exact time and temp to get it done, and now I can get it going and forget about it. Sliced up I can get about 3 pounds of chicken in it and that makes the equivalent to about 2 of the large bags I used to buy. The trays are also nice. I just put them in the dishwasher on a "gentle" cycle and they do fine. The base unit also cleans very easily with just some spray cleaner and a paper towel. It stores very nicely since all of the trays will overlap each other when turned the same way and it shrinks down to a nice compact size to store in a cabinet. I have done one batch of regular people jerky with some sirloin and the packets of jerky seasoning they give you and it was incredible. I am looking forward to playing around with it some more on other things like fruits and different flavored jerky seasonings. If you are looking for a dehydrator in this price range, don't hesitate to buy this one. 0 |
