very pretty, techy and stylish… but NOISY and DRAFTY. not as comfy as a mica panel heater ;-(, February 7, 2014
By
Pete H. (Los Angeles, CA United States) – See all my reviews

i live in l.a. and you wouldn’t think it gets cold here, but man it gets cold here! (or maybe i’m a wimp… i dunno!).

i have several delonghi panel heaters, and they work very well which is why i came back to this brand. the only reason i decided to look at what new offerings they had instead of buying another mica panel heater is, the panel heater are big enough (tho slim), that they take up a lot of room in the clothes closet in each room when i store them for the winter. ALSO… besides having heaters for various rooms, i also have fans for those various rooms (usually vornado). and when the heater is out in use during the winter, the fan is in the closet — again taking up some valuable space.

so as i looked into a new heater for one room i thought, let me see if there’s one that combines heater for winter PLUS fan for summer so maybe i can save some space. several good brands do make these — dyson (a 0 model), and vornado (some 0-0 models). i can’t afford the dyson. the vornados, i thought were okay but really lacked in the looks department (they actually are a touch less stylish than the normal vornado fans). so… i chose this delonghi in particular, because i liked the slim elegant and modern way it looked. and again, i was already familiar and happy with the delonghi brand.

okay well now that i have my modern, pretty, heater…. well i can say i LIKE it but i do not LOVE it! and i am quite on the fence if i will keep it or not since it simply hasn’t blown me away or warmed me up that cozily!

the good:

– it’s pretty, it’s elegant, it has very nice styling. very high techy, and it’s nice to have a digital readout so you can make more precise adjustments and feel like you have some control over the weather! makes you feel like god haha…
– there is a heater for winter, and a fan for summer.
– there is an ECO mode to save you money (electric heaters, long term, can be very expensive to run)
– there is a remote control
– there is a temperature control, which is much nicer than simply low, medium, high (64 degrees up to 90 degrees).
– there is a timer control for both ON and OFF; up to 24 hours each way, with 1/2 hour increments for the first 8 hours.

the not so good:

– it is LOUD. on the lowest setting, it is LOUD. i went to sleep with this on, and the level of noise is more than just white noise and a hum. it is loud enough to interrupt your sweet dreams, or to stop you from having them. it is a very distinct blower noise.

– this is a “ceramic” heater with fan-forced air. my other delonghis are mica panel heaters, which do not use a fan. i have now discovered there is a BIG difference in comfort and quality of heat from the two. the fan-forced heat is DRAFTY. it is really not actually that comfortable and i have been trying it for a few days just wondering if i had to “get used to it”. also, with the fan forced heat i very quickly felt dry! with the mica panel heaters, however, there is a toasty and cozy even warmth. the drafty nature of the fan forced heat is probably enough to make me return this even tho i like the other features generally. as it BLOWS “heat” against you, it is actually a bit cool because it’s doing this via a fan. so some of the air current is warm and some of it is cool. you will feel like a warm penguin. in a draft.

– the ECO concept is great, if it actually works. but every time i pushed ECO, the fan came on to a higher setting (it seems there is high and low for the fan). i don’t see how with the fan operating on a higher setting, this is more economical than it operating on a lower setting. i have run the heater on ECO thinking it’s just trying to get to a temperature, and then it will go back to “low fan” mode. but it seemed to stay on the higher fan speed. which also made the unit even LOUDER! so i’m a little dubious of the “eco” function, actually being more economical.

– part of my initial attraction to this was my desire to have a heater in winter / fan in summer in one unit, to save some space. what i have since discovered about this, and about EACH brand that makes heater / fan combos, is that the fan will NEVER be strong enough to take the place of a dedicated summer table or floor fan. this is because (except for the dyson combo — which i believe has some speed variations in fan mode), the delonghi and the vornado fans operate on “low” only in fan only mode. even in heat mode, when the fan goes into high is it not a super high speed because if it was, it would COOL the heating element more than it would push the warmth out. (vornado tech support told me this!) OH. well when you hear that, it makes perfect sense! but anyway, as a standalone fan, this creates a very very slight breeze that only goes to about 4 feet out. if i was using this in the summer as a fan, it would provide…

Everything I wanted in a small heater, March 29, 2014
By

Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
After many years the small ceramic heater my husband used in the basement of our home died. We needed to find another small heater for his use. We selected the DeLonghi DCH7093ER Ceramic Heater because 1. our past purchases with DeLonghi products 2. It seemed to be exactly the type of ceramic heater we were looking for.

We are very please with our purchase. My husband is very satisfied with all the new features which regulates the heat for his comfort needs. I am sure that with a name like DeLonghi and the quality of what we expect with that name we will have this heater for many years.

JUNK! BUYER BEWARE!, May 18, 2015
Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: DeLonghi DCH7093ER Ceramic Heater (Misc.)
I own another DeLonghi heater that I really like, it’s been very dependable however one of the first few times I used this one, it shut off. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, it worked for a few minutes and shut off again. I researched online and on Amazon and discovered that they have faulty tip over switches. It was too late to return it to Amazon and I needed a heater for this winter so I put up with it. Now 7 months later it’s dead, never buy another DeLonghi again!
