It only takes a few ounces of water and that is not enough to humidify even the smallest room. This is basically an essential oil diffuser and for that it does a very good job. Our whole living room started to smell good in just a few minutes. It comes with a water container/pourer. Be careful as it will fill up the reservoir more than the indicated line. What it doesn’t come with is the essential oil; you have to provide your own scented oil Three drops is all you need (poured directly and mixed with the water). Plug the device and press the power button. The mist will start to come out on the top and LED light display will immediately commence. You can also have the mist comes out without the light display if it gets disturbing during sleep time. Press the button gain and that mode should be just before you turn off the device.
