Room for improvement...., July 12, 2014

I have had this watch for two weeks and I am not sure if I will keep it or not. Many things are great about this watch but I must say that the barometer is not accurate at all!!!! It will swing from 26.40 to 31.50 in the matter of a few hours. The largest tropical storm couldnt do that... I am a helicopter pilot and I wanted a watch that could give me a close enough guess for the morning altimeter setting since I am located far away from any weather reporting but sadly this watch is worthless when it comes to that part. The compass works ok... not too far off and the altimeter is decent too(usually within a 100ft). The temp works if you set in on the desk and give it time to cool off from your body heat. Tells time great but it doesnt have the best light for checking time late at night. I am not sure if its worth almost 0 since the barometer is not accurate at all and the temp function requires you to take off the watch. I will stick with it for another week or two and see how if goes... only time will tell 🙂 haha

This is a beautiful watch. Green accent looks amazing. Solar powered and atomic time sync means no hassles of battery replacement which leaves half of my watches unused at any point in time. So many easy to use features makes it a desirable watch. I still I need to test all the sensors for accuracy but initial check seemed to indicate very good accuracy.

Beautiful Watch, August 29, 2014
This review is from: Casio Men's PRW-6000Y-1ACR Pro Trek Analog-Digital Display Quartz Black Watch (Watch)
This Casio is one heck of a watch. I saw it while browsing Amazon, and instantly fell in love with it. It's the most feature-packed watch I have by far, with everything from a thermometer to a barometer, to an altimeter, and compass. It's also likely to be the most accurate watch you have, as it wirelessly synchronizes with the Navy's master clock in Fort Collins, Colorado. In my testing, I've found the compass and altimeter to be pretty accurate. The thermometer and barometer, however, are less accurate. If you're wearing the watch, the watch will pick up on body heat and give a skewed result. However, using the watch as a thermometer when not worn will yield accurate results. The barometer is generally unaccurate, and gives huge swings in pressure. I wouldn't rely on it if you need laser precision.

As for the general appearance and fit/finish of the watch, it excels in both areas. A beautiful timepiece to look at, it is light on the wrist and solid to the touch. A good-looking brushed stainless steel back shows a mountain, and other assorted information about the watch. The watch is neither as thick nor as heavy as a G-Shock watch, thankfully. It's comfortable to wear, as the band is soft, yet feels strong and durable, thanks to the Carbon Fiber inserts, which are advertised on the outside of the band, below 6 o'clock. They are also fun to look at, as the band is translucent from the inside.

The dial is a pleasing layout of information related to time and the other features. The screen at the bottom is nicely visible in different lighting conditions, and can display all sorts of various data (according to the manual, which would take weeks to learn). Pushing buttons to use features is rewarding, as the watch is very responsive and beeps with every button push. The hands even move out of the way when the watch displays information on the bottom of the screen. The lume is the best of any watch I've owned, and is bright after a minute or so under a concentrated desk lamp. It will continue to glow for quite a while thereafter. The lume is a pleasing green color, not the blue color a lot of strong lume is. The bezel, which doesn't rotate, appears to be some sort of PVD-on-steel treatment, which is great for the price point of this watch. I could be wrong, but the bezel doesn't feel like plastic.

All in all, this is a great-looking watch, packed with features. It's almost too beautiful to take hiking or trekking, but I look forward to testing it in the outdoors. If you can pick it up for under 0, I think it'll be well worth the price. Amazon has some bizarre price-fixing scam going, where the price goes from 0 (rare) to the full 0 (common) retail price. I got mine off of a certain other famous shopping website, for 0. If you need precision instrumentation, this watch won't suit you. But if you want reasonably accurate numbers and a gorgeous watch, don't hesitate to buy it.
