Dual system control for single user workstations – Supports resolutions up to 1920×1200 (DVI-Digital) – EDID retention

An ideal solution for graphic designers, CAD/CAM designers or educational and financial institutions, the dual view KVM Switch allows you to instantly switch back and forth between dual DVI display PCs at the touch of a button, while maintaining professional level video quality on both monitors. The dual DVI switch also features an integrated USB hub port that allows USB 2.0 peripherals such as thumb drives, external hard drives or web cams to be shared between attached systems – eliminating duplicate peripheral costs.

EDID retention – essentially eliminates any hassle when switching between computers as the KVM “remembers” monitor settings. The time saved by not having to reconfigure your display settings will lead to increased productivity, especially when switching between computers is needed to accomplish the completion of a task or project.

Frustrated, December 17, 2012

I've owned this switch for about a year now and unfortunately I've finally given up and I'm disconnecting it. Many of my issues have already been commented on by previous reviewers, however here are the main issues I'm frustrated with:

1) When switching between PCs there's about a 50% chance that one of the monitors will not switch over properly. So I have to switch BACK to the other PC and try it again and hope that both monitors switch over properly the next go around.

2) A certain keystroke command can get stuck sometimes so it types out that same key over and over. Usually I can fix it by hitting backspace a few times but other times I can only fix it by switching over and then back.

3) Sometimes my PC will completely forget that the second monitor was ever connected. The only way to fix this is to either reboot the PC or go into the screen settings, stop extending the desktop to that monitor, apply, then reset it to extend to the second desktop and apply.

So overall I'm not pleased with my purchase. Not worth the hefty price tag at all in my opinion. I'm going back to RDP sessions to manage my multiple PCs.

Doesn't work - too many problems, October 21, 2012
This review is from: StarTech.com 2 Port Dual DVI USB KVM Switch with Audio and USB 2.0 Hub (SV231DD2DUA) (Personal Computers)
I purchased one of these a little less than a year ago and have had nothing but problems with it.

I have 2 1920x100 24" monitors connected to a desktop PC and a laptop docking station through this unit. The PC goes through a Matrox DualHead2Go DP edition display device that outputs to DP ports which go through DP to DVI cables into the KVM. The laptop just has 2 DVI cables connected.

The video randomly drops out and sometimes recovers on its own, sometimes I have to remove the DP cable from the PC or DVI cables from the laptop to recover, causing them to resize all of my windows. This does not occur when plugged directly into either computer.

Another issue is that ranom keyboard keys get "stuck" every now and then (including shift, ctrl, or alt). Pressing any other key "fixes" the issue until it happens again. This does not happen when the keyboard is plugged direcly into either computer.

I don't like to write bad reviews, and this is the first time I've ever had something from StarTech that didn't work, but it doesn't work in a big way. They even sent a replacement unit (I had to send my unit in and wait for the replacement) and the replacemnt unit had the same behavior. I can't recommend buying this for any reason.

The product is simple to set up and it works just fine. My issue with the product is the space for the connectors. The product is only 6.5" wide by 2.5" high. So when you try to connect the 6 DVI cables on the back, space is very tight. I had to shave some plastic off of all my connectors so that they would all fit squarely and be fully connected. And screwing in the connectors?..ugh that was a hassle. Seems like the manufacturer could have used another .5" higher and .5" wider to give ample space for all the connections. My other qualm is with the power connection. The power cord for the KVM falls out easily. I have secured it so it won't fall out (read taped here), but again, seems as though the manufacturer cheaped out when a simple and cheap fix would have improved satisfaction. Don't get me wrong, the product works great, and I'm not unhappy, but I could be happier with some simple fixes.
