After testing out 3 webcams: Logitech Quickcam chat(), Creative Live (), and Logitech communicate STX ()this one is the best. The first two were pieces of junk. I really wanted to like Logitech’s communicate STX due to the good ratings, but their drivers do not work with older computers and Logitech does not have updated drivers. I spent 2 hours on the set up and trying out their driver downloaded from their site. I returned that the next day. Today I recieved Microsoft Vx-3000, which I bought here on Amazon for and I’d have to say it’s a really good webcam. Set up was super fast, it took less than 10 mins to get on yahoo messenger live on cam). The quality is really good too. WOW! I’m a satisfied customer. I will update if any problems arise.

The “Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000” is a great little webcam that installs fairly quickly (on my Vista PC) and provides good video and audio quality.

This webcam was very easy to install and setup, taking less than a half hour so before I was able to make my first test shots. The automatic recognition by Windows Live Messenger was great and did not require any additional settings.

The video quality is good for web and video chatting, but I wouldn’t use it for taking photos that are to be printed. The audio is also good for video chatting, but not much else.

This is a good solid webcam that performs better than expected!

Recommended!

Broke within 5 minutes, bad microphone, July 5, 2013
Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 – Web Camera – Color – Audio – USB (09299B) Category: Web Cams (Accessory)
Reasons I bought this camera:
– it’s cheap
– it has a microphone
– it’s not a headset (I’ve been having a lot of trouble finding cheap microphones that aren’t headsets and still have decent reviews)
– I guess a camera is a nice bonus for a cheap mic that I don’t have to wear on my head.

The Good:
1. Camera’s about as advertised. Pretty grainy on g+ hangout, but surprisingly well-adjusted to lighting.

The Bad:
1. It broke as soon as I set it up. I plugged it in, set it on the table, and it fell a whopping 3 feet onto carpet, where the base promptly broke off.
2. The mic has a LOT of static/background noise. It’s hard to tell how much of that is because the mic is in direct contact with the table (see #1). I made a recording of myself and I could barely hear the words over the shhhhhhh.

Look, it’s a $ 20 camera. I wasn’t expecting it to be a paragon of robustness. That said, I really didn’t think it would break BEFORE I even got to use it.
