Great Wireless IP Outdoor Camera, October 7, 2013
This review is from: D-Link Wireless HD Day/Night Outdoor Network Surveillance Camera with mydlink-Enabled (DCS-2332L) (Electronics)
I admit I got this at a local store. Price was comparable to online. The camera is well built. Setup was easy even without the Auto-Setup Dlink touts with their Routers. I use an ASUS RT-AC66U router and reception is excellent with this camera. I set this up with a fixed IP and use a DNS service to access it, not the MYDLINK Service! Documentation could be better in regards to setting up motion detection but once you "Get It" it makes sense and is easily adjustable for a variety of circumstances. This camera monitors my driveway. At first, the motion of the shadow of trees moving kept triggering an event. By increasing the percentage and decreasing sensitivity that was eliminated. Now it actually takes a vehicle entering the area or someone walking up my driveway to trigger movement.

Foscam and others could take a lesson from Dlink on cabling. Both require Ethernet to setup the cameras but with the Dlink, the Ethernet port is water sealed with no hanging Ethernet pigtail once the camera is ready to mount outdoors. The Power supply has an adequate length of cable and is thin enough to fit between the sash and closed window. What good is a Wireless Camera if you have to find a way to conceal an Ethernet pigtail with a reset button!

Picture quality is excellent. I was not fond of the mount provided so I used an articulated mount from Rammount (also available from Amazon)and that only took me 5 minutes to mount the camera and aim it where I wanted.

Monitoring on my Samsung S4 Android phone and Lenovo ThinkPad Android tablet with IP-Cam Viewer is flawless.

It has a slot for a MicroSD card but that's not included! Two way audio is also a useful function. All in all I'm completely satisfied with this product.

Good first outdoor camera for not having to deal with complex wiring, October 13, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: D-Link Wireless HD Day/Night Outdoor Network Surveillance Camera with mydlink-Enabled (DCS-2332L) (Electronics)
The good:
- The picture quality seems fairly good for these cameras. The quality is a little better than the trendnet indoor cameras.
- Setup was easy for me. No particular issues and it took about 8-10 min. The instructions could have been direct in stating to login in to the assigned ip address of the camera.
- This was easy to configure with a Synology NAS unit for the DS CAM software. Only 1 issue, read below.
- The camera has a simple mount system or stand which allows you to try different locations.

The Bad:
- Don't download the extra software on the dlink website for remote viewing on your desktop. The first thing it did was disable the windows uac security protection. I've never seen any other software do this. Then the software never started.
- The motion detection configuration doesn't allow for any motion ignore zones. Motion is evaluated for the whole frame.
- The camera can't seem to produce fast frame rates on the highest quality setting. Connection is steady, but frames appear to drop. My trendnets (indoors) on the same network are doing better with this.
- The power cord seems to be fixed, meaning its attached direct to the unit and then the powerblock. You couldn't string it through a hole if you needed to.
- The nighttime quality is very grainy and the IR range is not very far. I would have liked to further range.
- The Audio codec isn't supported with the Synology DS Cam software for some reason.

The Ok:
- The field of view is less wide than the Trendnets.

Great outdoor camera!!!, May 17, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: D-Link Wireless HD Day/Night Outdoor Network Surveillance Camera with mydlink-Enabled (DCS-2332L) (Electronics)
I just received my DCS-2332L camera. Before I had several D-link (indoor) cameras around my property, some where outdoors which I'm replacing with the DCS-2332L.

Even though it's outside it is placed relatively closed to my router, around 25 ft (and two walls). It holds a stronger wifi connection than my DCS-5222L which is at a similar distance.

The picture is very clear and sharp but I'm experiencing some flickering problems during the night, I've tried some adjustments and now it has stopped flooding my e-mail inbox with alerts but I had to turn down the motion sensitivity and turn on the flickering reduction mode.

It seems to have a good weather-seal for all the connectors and the sd-micro card slot.

A great camera, can't say that I'm missing any features, just what I needed.

To begin with I bought one to see how it worked (also because it has above average price tag for an ip-camera), and I'll soon add a couple or so more to my system for outdoor monitoring.

Regarding the D-link cloud system I must say it's brilliant. Despite the mobile apps being heavy and sometimes slow in use, the online features are great as is the e-mail alert system. Before I've had both Logitech Wilife and TrendNet security cameras and the D-link cameras and the MyCloud system is by-far the best system I've used, it's both simpler and more reliable compared to the other two systems.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend or a family member.
