Cam Video IM Pro 1.3 MP Web Cam (Personal Computers) I did buy this as a refurbished unit. It's hard to maintain a real sharp focus, but easy to set up and use. The other problem I have is if I keep the camera plugged into the computer I sometimes get a blue screen that indicates a driver problem. This was the last device I installed so I can only assume that it's the webcam. While unplugged the problem never occurs. I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. I searched for new drivers and there are none. So I use it when I use SKYPE and unplug when done. It does most things well--recognized by XP without drivers (shows up as a video input device under My Computer), very compact, nice picture quality, long cord, and a manual focus ring. It has an unobtrusive blue LED when powered on, and even connected via USB1 produced a high-framerate video stream. But, when you try to use it in bright light--full sunlight or even cloudy daylight--the picture washes out badly and is basically useless. If you're using it for standard webcam stuff--sitting in front of your screen with maybe a light on in the room--it's a nice camera. Point it out the window, not so much. I'm also running it on a Mac, which isn't officially supported. I bought it for so I guess I can't complain too much. I did like the fact that you can manually focus the camera and the clamp seems to work quite well. I recommend it if video quality isn't a must have and you're ok with low quality audio. 0 |
