In spite of the previous reviews of issues with damage to the fridge, I decided to order one because I like the color red. And we needed a mini fridge. Plus I figured I could live with a few cosmetic dents or dings, so long as the fridge worked. When I received it, I excitedly extracted it from the box and packaging, then proceed to attempt to level it before plugging it in.

Except.

There were two major dents in the back two corners of the body of the fridge – making leveling an impossibility (in fact, as I was turning it during leveling, the dented corners scratched my floor since the dents created very sharp edges). No possible way to level it, and having it wobble back and forth was unacceptable.

Thank goodness for Amazon’s fairly easy returns, because back in the box it went and picked up the very next day.

I rolled the dice and ordered another one (I know, I’m probably out of my mind, but it *is* a cute fridge!) Here’s hoping the next one comes without major damage – I’ll update this review when I receive it.

UPDATE 8/7/13:

Good News! Amazon made good this time. The replacement fridge showed up today, and there’s nary a dent or ding anywhere to be found, cosmetic or otherwise. The return of the first one was easy (for me, I’m pretty sure my poor UPS driver didn’t think it was easy lugging a 70 pound box to and from my back porch. He totally deserves a raise.) I did have to nag Amazon a little bit for the refund so I could order the replacement one, but the person I talked to was very accommodating and my refund was issued about 2 hours after I called.

I’m just glad I was planning ahead for the need of the mini fridge – I don’t need it for another week, but had I needed it *last* week, I would have been outta luck. So just a word to the wise – give yourself two weeks leeway for when you actually need the fridge, just in case you need to return and reorder like I did.

Love the fridge so far, though – the interior light and the separate (and actual) freezer compartment are what really sold me on this particular model (and the color, of course) in spite of the fridge section being smaller than if you got one that didn’t have the freezer compartment. But I’m happy to sacrifice fridge space so I can have some frozen goods (like ice cream) in the freezer part vs. having just enough freezer space to only hold an ice cube tray like the others have. Priorities, you know. 🙂 I bumped my star rating to 4 stars – had I gotten this particular fridge the first go ’round, it would easily have been 5 stars.

UPDATE 8/16/13:

Well, that was a bust. The movers came and took our fridge on Tuesday, so we finally had space to plug in this cute little fridge to use instead of dealing with coolers of ice for the next 10 days while we finish work on our house before hitting the road. IT NEVER GOT COLD. The freezer nor the fridge had any cool air whatsoever.

At first it felt like it was getting cool on the interior, so before going to bed Tuesday night I (foolishly) transferred the lunch meat and cheese from the cooler to the little fridge assuming it would be completely cold by morning, especially since I put it on the coldest setting. No such luck. So I basically threw out about in the trash because naturally the lunch meat and cheese sat in warmth all night long. So back to Amazon it goes, and this time I am NOT going to get a new one.

In fact, the hubby stopped by a local store yesterday and bought a totally different mini fridge with freezer (for less money) and that one not only had no dents, but started cooling right away – so much so, the freezer was able to freeze things without having to wait 24 hours for it to be totally up and running.

Sad to say I’m reducing my star rating to 1 star since this has been a fiasco from the start. I do NOT recommend this fridge – save your money and buy something that will not be damaged and work from the get-go.

Love the product, but they failed to write on the shipping box not to tip this product. The two thin boxes provide little protection and this item arrives with plenty of dings and dents. Poor packing means you will probably wind up with a few unsightly marks. Fridge has been running nonstop, may be from being tossed about in shipping.

This the cutest refrigerator and works very well. However, it arrived with two quarter-size dents in the front lower door and on the side. That was very disappointing. I would have given it a 5 star rating otherwise.

Just finished putting it together and giving her a test run. Good to great quality. Looks great, easy assembly. They say “glass remains cool to the touch” which is 100% accurate and why we purchased for our living room thinking we wouldn’t have to worry about our 14 month old burning himself. HOWEVER, what they don’t tell you (until you get it and see the big warning sticker) is that the grid directly above the glass and exposed to everyone gets VERY VERY HOT. NOT good for kids or even animals. That being said, we really like it and still think it is a great value.

This was my 1st time ordering thru Amazon and my experience was rewarding. I was a little worried about ordering something on line without actually seeing it, pictures don’t always give the proper representation of the product that is displayed. With that said, I am very pleased with the Electric fireplace that I recieved, it came in two boxes (one being the wooden console and the other the fireplace insert)and the UPS agent brought right into the house for me.
Now a couple of hints that will make the assembly easier: When you open the box, have a vacumm cleaner near by to remove the styrofoam from the items, due to static, the styrofoam is difficult to remove from the wood, but the vacumm will make cleanup easier as you remove from the packing. Inventory your parts and check off the paper as you locate them and then spread them out for easy recognition. Before you start assembling, spread a blanket on the floor to eliminate potential scratching, then follow the step by step instructions and take your time. Took approx 2.5 hours to assemble, this included removing stickers after the items were assembled (leave stickers on until assembled), the cam locks require a #2 phillips screwdriver, but I suggest using a #2 flat screwdriver to get the cams tight, then go back with the phillips to break the edges of the slots, this will allow the cover caps to be inserted into the cam. I utilized the corner shelf on the back of the console, so it would fit in the corner of the room and it is mounted on hinges, so if you want to eventually put it on a wall the shelf will just fold down.
The heater insert comes with a remote control that allows you to adjust the lights in the logs and also adjust the intensity of the flames. The remote will also turn the heat on / off as you need, there is a temperture switch located in a hidden panel that will allow you to set the heat and will shut off automatically once the temperture is reached. Very pleased with the realistic look of the logs / flame and also the adjustable shelfs that are located on each side of the console behind glass doors.

Downside: The media shelf is only 13″ deep, did not allow my cable box to fully sit on the shelf without overhanging in the front, but by eliminating the back plate on the console, this was easily rectified.

Overall for the money, this was a great addition to my living room and the 55″flat screen looks great sitting on top.

I love the fireplace but did have a problem with the remote. I called the company that made it (southern enterprises)
They would not even discuss it with me. They told me they were sorry they could not help (all they said) amazon
was wonderful they tried everything to help even calling southern enterprises to try to find a solution. Amazon was told the same thing. My advice don’t buy anything this company makes. Amazon was great. I will buy from them again.
