Great unit for the money!!, May 29, 2014

I have a pretty large upstairs area and my central air unit is just not big enough to efficiently cool the upstairs, especially when it gets up in mid 90’s. I purchased 3 of these refurbished units on ebay (1 for 9, and 2 for 4 each). I am just tickled with this unit. It is not very loud on low fan speed (this one only has 2 speeds, hi/low). I found the size to be relatively small and easy to move around. The vents on the front seem kind of "cheepo" but they still adjust ok. There is no lever to adjust them up and down, you just have to hold 2 of the vent louvers to adjust them. The left/right louver does have a lever you move from side to side. Not sure why they did not do the same for the up/down louvers.

I felt the window adjusting panel was pretty cheap and I cut a piece of wood (5" x 29.75"). I placed the vent hose where I wanted it and marked the top and ends. I then used the supplied window panel to draw a precise oval for the discharge vent to fit into. I will put an angled piece of sheet metal over the vent hold for when it rains really hard so the rain does not blow into my pipe.

If I had to pay full price for a new one I would only give it 4 stars but since I got a really good price on them I give it 5 stars when looking at overall value for the money spent.

I will be running 3 of these all summer so I will definitely update this review if I experience any problems. It comes with a remote but I have not used it since I just simply set the temp and leave it.

On another LG product review someone noted that when you turn it on for the first time, it will be several minutes before the a/c compressor kicks in. This was for the first run only. So don’t get excited when you turn it on and it is not blowing cold air.

Lastly, the discharge (vent) hose DOES put out a decent amount of heat. I went to the big box store and picked up a roll of Foil Bubble Insulation (2′ x 25′). I then cut strips that were about 4 inches wide so I could simply wrap the foil bubble wrap around the vent hose to keep it insulated and keep it from putting room heat.

This is supplementing my Central A/C . You need to make sure of the square footage you are trying to cool and make sure you select the correct BTU size.

I love these!

It finally makes my west-facing bedroom bearable in the late afternoon/evening hours. It will cool the room down 30 degrees in about 30 minutes. The exhaust rig doesn’t stay in the window frame as intended (I have a vertical sliding window) but any bozo can do it with a minimum of work and knowledge. I paid around 0, and it is worth every penny. Will it last?–That’s something that only time will tell, but LG is a solid brand.

good enough, June 24, 2014

I have bought mine from a store but i am going to say that it is a well worth product when you dont have a AC unit or Central air in your home. I am happy i got this, as well as the kids are too. I am impressed with the multi functions and the ability this has. I use the dehumidify feature the most, it cuts the mug out of the room and then i will turn the ac setting. The ac is great for cooling down the rooms, i use it mostly in the living room and then at night we are windows opened. it helps keep us all happy and calm.
I am going to take it in for servicing here soon, just to get a check up and make sure nothing is wrong or leaking… want to keep it all safe and everyone happy.
