Keeping track of the freshness of your filter helps ensure you always get cleaner*** water. Simply follow the three-light system: a blinking green light means the filter is fresh, a blinking yellow light reminds you to change the filter soon, and a blinking red light comes on after two months* or 640 pours** to show you it’s time to replace your filter.

The Brita Marina comes with an activated carbon and ion-exchange resin water filter that reduces chlorine taste and odor, zinc, copper, mercury, and cadmium*** often found in tap water. This Brita water filter can replace up to 300 standard 16.9-ounce water bottles, reducing your waste easily. *Filter should be replaced after 40 gallons/151 liters (about two months for the average family). **Based on 8-ounce pours; indicator logic does not account for product misuse. ***Certified to reduce copper and mercury. Directions

Your water filter pitcher can be ready for use in just a few steps. Wash your hands before touching the water filter, then soak it upright for 15 minutes in cold water. Rinse under running tap water and insert the filter into the reservoir, lining up the groove in the filter with the notch in the reservoir. Add cold tap water. The first three pitchers of filtered water may contain carbon dust and can be used on plants or discarded. The filter indicator reminds you to replace the water filter every 40 gallons or two months.*
